At the General Meeting on January 26, Casey Rockwell was named Junior League of Little Rock’s Member of the Month for November 2016. Get to know Casey a little better!

November 2016 Member of the Month, Casey Rockwell

What is your League placement and what is your favorite aspect of it?

I am currently the Nonprofit Board Chair and the Annual Fund Chair-Elect. I was also just announced as the upcoming Training Director-Elect. I like that all of my committees are fairly small and I get to know everyone on a personal level.

What is your profession and how do you balance it with your League duties?

I teach Business Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and I have been teaching there for one year. Prior to teaching at UALR, I was the Dean of Learning at College of the Ouachitas in Malvern. I also spent four years with the Food and Drug Administration carrying a gun and badge. I graduated Hendrix College at 19, graduated law school at 21, graduated the Clinton School at 23, and finished my Doctorate in Education at 26. I have learned to balance my career by only committing to what I can do my very best at.

What other organizations are you involved in?

I currently hold positions as the immediate past president of Association of Women Lawyers and I am the mid-year chair for the Arkansas Bar Association.

What are some of your hobbies?

My hobbies include building houses on the side with my husband. We currently have two houses under construction and recently toured a third to see if we can get that started as well.

What is your favorite restaurant?

My favorite restaurant is Baja Grill. It is in my neighborhood and I can just walk to it. The owner is super friendly and lets me hold meetings at the restaurant.

Where is your favorite place to shop in Little Rock?

I really like shopping for light fixtures. The Lighting Emporium is one of my favorite places to shop. I try to pick out cool and unique light fixtures. I also like to shop at Roy Dudley Estate Sales. They always have something unique and classic—one of a kind. We look for things that have a story to it. I also like to shop at Fabulous Finds.

What is your favorite movie or TV show?

My favorite movies are 8 Seconds and Dirty Dancing. My husband and I even did the Dirty Dancing dance at our wedding! My favorite TV show is Grey’s Anatomy.

What is your favorite thing about Junior League of Little Rock?

Being that I am not from Little Rock, the Junior League is a great way to meet new people. I enjoy networking with women who are talented and busy and willing to give up their busy schedule to give back. I really value the friendships that I have made.
