April Member of the Month, Jenny Beck

What is your League placement and what is your favorite aspect of it?

I am currently serving as Recruitment Chair-Elect. One of my favorite aspects of this role is getting to be creative with how we market the League to potential new members. I have also always loved being a hostess, so pulling together our open houses is fun.

What is your profession and how do you balance it with your League duties?

My background is in Social Work and, when I first joined the League, I was working full time as a Clinical Therapist at Youth Home, Inc. I was fortunate to have a somewhat flexible schedule and a supportive boss who encouraged me to pursue my goals within the League. I recently became a stay at home mom and my day to day tasks have changed greatly. My family knows how important the League is to me and I could not juggle it without their support, especially my husband’s.

What other organizations are you involved in?

I am still involved with Youth Home, am a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, and I just joined the Greater Little Rock Chi Omega Alumnae Association.

What are some of your hobbies?

I enjoy reading, painting/crafting, doing my nails, swimming, skiing, singing, and binge-watching Netflix.

What is your favorite local restaurant?

My current favorite is Baja Grill.

Where is your favorite place to shop in Little Rock?

A nice, long, kid-free trip to Target is the best!

What is your favorite movie or TV show?

It’s hard to name just one, but my favorite movie would probably be Sleepless in Seattle and TV show would be Friends.

What is your favorite thing about Junior League of Little Rock?

It’s membership! I love getting to serve alongside such strong, independent women and having the opportunity to learn and be encouraged by them.

What new opportunities do you plan to say “yes” to in the 2017-2018 League year?

I like to stay busy and be challenged so I am always open to new experiences. I am super excited to be stepping into the role of Recruitment Chair next year!
