Dear Junior League of Little Rock Members,
On behalf of the Junior League of Little Rock, Inc., I welcome you to our website! I am honored to serve as the 2009-2010 President of an organization that is committed to women’s leadership, voluntarism and improving the community. In our 88th year of commitment to our community, we are focused on continuing our legacy of volunteer training and service.
As an organization, the JLLR provides our members with many different volunteer opportunities. The word “learn” has many different synonyms, and most of them are experiences offered by the JLLR! Each year our members contribute their time, talent and energy to our various community projects. In doing so they not only improve our community, but also improve themselves and our organization by gaining the knowledge needed to be productive volunteers and leaders.
Our provisional and active members directly impact the lives of women and children in Little Rock, through both hands-on training with our community projects, and by raising money to support JLLR efforts. Additionally, our sustaining members continue to serve the JLLR and the community through their leadership and participation in a variety of projects throughout Little Rock. This tireless commitment of our membership, our sponsors and our community partners is what allows us to address a variety of needs in the city of Little Rock.
This year we will welcome the Organizational and Development Institute (ODI) to Little Rock in February, 2010. This mission based training provided by the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) will bring women from Leagues all over the country to our community. We will also be offering the “ABC’s and 123’s of Training” to our membership, with different monthly topics, as well as various “Lunch and Lead” training sessions throughout the year.
As you can see, we have many exciting things on our syllabus to accomplish together and many ways to “Learn it in the League.” The JLLR recognizes that we can all become better volunteers and leaders, simply through our willingness to be teachable. By improving our own skills we can change peoples lives.
Thank you for your interest in our League!
Courtney McLarty
President 2009-2010
