COURTNEY MCLARTY: President
Ten years ago, after graduating from law school, I moved back to my hometown of Little Rock. That fall, my mother encouraged me to join the JLLR as a provisional member in an effort to reacquaint myself with my community, as well as have the opportunity to meet some new friends. In looking back on my years in the JLLR, I cannot thank her enough for that suggestion! I have had the good fortune to work with fabulous women who have helped me grow as a leader, and who have taught me more than a thing or two about balancing family, career, and volunteering (while having fun at the same time!). My League career has taken me from cookbook office sales in the Rainey Building, to the Tomberlin committee, to an opportunity to serve in various Membership areas. I am looking forward to my year as President-Elect and plan to use the training and guidance offered to me this year to structure a continuing framework for next year that supports our mission and our members.
JULIA STRICKLAND: President-Elect
Volunteering with the Junior League gives me the opportunity to work with varied and interesting women who value being involved in their community, as well as a sense of being an integral part of something meaningful. During my tenure with the League, I have served in a number of capacities from administrative to community-related, including Treasurer. My experiences in this organization helped me discover talents and develop organizational and leadership skills, which empowered me to participate in other community leadership programs such as Leadership Greater Little Rock (Class XXIII) and the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas’ Emerging Leaders (Class I). Professionally, I am the Business Manager for Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon & Galchus, P.C., a law firm whose culture encourages community involvement. In addition to my duties within the League, I serve as President of the Association of Legal Administrators. I look forward to serving as President-Elect and anticipate spending my time and energy preparing to assume the duties of President.
AMINAH EDDINGS: Community Vice President
I became an active member of the Junior League in 2003. While my initial reason for joining was to volunteer and give back to my community, I never imagined that the League would provide me with valuable training and afford me the opportunity to work with so many talented women who share my desire to make a difference. I have served on various committees, most recently APT(Admissions Provisional Training) and Co-Chair of Community Focus Opportunity. Originally from Georgia, I attended Clark Atlanta University where I graduated with a degree in Education. I am currently a math teacher in the Little Rock School District. In my free time I enjoy reading and spending time with my wonderful husband and two handsome sons. I am excited about my role as Community Vice-President and look forward to serving as a liaison between the community at-large and the League.
JILL HARTSFIELD: Membership Vice President
The start of my JLLR experience was on the transportation committee of Bargain Barn in 2004. That was quite a year that helped me understand about being a part of something larger than myself, and gave me some of my dearest friends today. I believe that half my bunko group has served on that committee at some point in their JLLR career! My most recent role, Placement Chair, has enabled me to see the amazing abilities our members have to offer our community. We are part of a great group of women!! As Membership Vice President, I hope to continue the goals established by my predecessors by increasing membership retention, engagement, commitment and satisfaction while meeting the needs of individual members and the League as a whole.
KIMBERLY MEYER-WEBB: Marketing Vice President
KIMBERLY BOWMAN: Development Vice President
The desire to impact women and children, coupled with the excitement of meeting new people drew me to the JLLR as a 26 year who was ‘new’ to the area. What has kept me, though, is something very different: Creating a professional newsletter for the newly formed GROW Community Project, when I had never quite mastered ‘cut and paste’; how to configure and place 150+ merchants with wide-ranging offerings in the state’s largest venue, with no intuitive sense of scale; strategizing on how best to revise a six-figure 7-page Holiday House budget, during one of the nation’s worst economic times. These are just three of the 1,000s of things I’ve been fortunate enough to work through during the last 6 years, while being surrounded by committed, diverse and fun women. As a University of Arkansas alumni, former TV news reporter and anchor, and former outside sales rep, this stay-at-home mom of two beautiful boys is hoping my experience adds a different perspective to the Board room. As Development Vice-President, this Dallas girl looks forward to diving-in to our various Ways and Means committees to position the Junior League of Little Rock for a sound financial future.
MAGGIE YOUNG: Administrative Vice President
In 2004, I was invited to join the Junior League by a sustainer and family friend. Joining the league was an exciting opportunity to work with other women and make a difference in our community. Over the years, I have done everything from picking up old refrigerators to recruiting league donors. This year is as Administrative Vice President my goal is to complete the original vision for the Headquarters building and utilize Digital Cheetah to its full potential. My other jobs consist of being Finley’s mom, Chris’ wife and the President of Southwest EAP. As a small business owner, my league experience has been invaluable as I have been able to draw strength and inspiration from such a large group of motivated women.
BECKA WEBB: Treasurer
I became an active member of the Junior League of Little Rock in 2004. Before becoming the Treasurer-Elect, I served on the GROW Committee, serving as the Programs Coordinator, Chair-Elect and Chair in 2007. I attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where I received degrees in Financial Management and International Economics with a minor in French. My current job is with Alltel's Treasury department, where I am the Supervisor of Cash Management and Debt Administration. Outside of the JLLR, I volunteer with Susan G. Koman for the Cure, the Cathedral School, Volunteers in Public Schools, and the Jingle Belles, which is a group of young women who support charities that benefit Women and Children through an annual Christmas party. In my free time I enjoy gardening, knitting, cooking, reading and spending time with my husband, our precious son, and weenie dog, Lily.
KRISTEN MINTON: Treasurer-Elect
I became an active member of the Junior League in 2007. I came to the league with many preconceived notions of what the organization was about and my own expectations for involvement in the organization. My expectations were reshaped by watching women effectively communicate and handle tasks and challenges in an efficient and cooperative manner. I appreciate the opportunity to work with the women of this organization. I attended college at the
APRIL ROBINSON: Nominating Chair
In 2000, I was invited to become a provisional member of the League. Before beginning my provisional year, my family and I moved to Jackson, MS. While there, I transferred to the Jackson Jr. League and completed my provisional year. In 2002, we moved back to Little Rock, and I transferred to JLLR as a first year active. Serving the community and meeting new people were goals I had hoped to achieve while volunteering, but I have gained so much more. I am amazed at the level of talented, committed women who are in the league!!! After attending Baylor University, I graduated with a business degree, majoring in Human Resources from UALR. I work part-time at Baptist Health Medical Center as a Human Resources Generalist. As Nominating Chair my goal is to identify leaders in the League, advance the training of JLLR leaders, and to provide solid leadership for the League. Our motto : "Finding the right job...for the right person...at the right time!"
CATHY MAYTON: Sustainer Advisor
I was invited to join the League in 1984. I was honored to be asked and was excited about the prospect of making a difference when working with other committed volunteers. After a short time in the League, I found my volunteer work to be very rewarding, but quickly realized that the friendships I was making would be with me for life! I was an active member from 1984 until 1996 and have worked on everything from Bargain Barn to Riverfest to writing for Interaction to stamping envelopes at night for the League (PEG)! Last year, I served as the Sustainer Rep. to the Development Committee and was pleased to be asked to serve as the Sustainer Rep to the Board. This Board is a wonderful representation of “can-do” women who have their eye on the future while working hard today. Outside of the League, I serve as the Executive Director of the Episcopal Collegiate School Foundation raising money for faculty development, financial assistance and other needs on campus. My husband and I do not have children of our own, so we are quick to claim all 585 students, Pre-K 3 through grade 12 as ours…all ours!
